Meet The Filters

Let's chat about the two filters before we start:

Everyday Filter

The Everyday Filter is designed for consistent, daily shooting. It provides a subtle blooming effect, softening highlights and helping to reduce harsh reflections. It also has a built-in circular polarizer, allowing you to rotate the filter to remove unwanted glare from reflective surfaces like water or glass.

Mist Circular Polarizer Filter

For a more pronounced blooming effect — especially in low-light situations —the Mist Circular Polarizer Filter is your go-to. Along with its stronger diffusing qualities, it also includes the circular polarizer function, giving you smoother, more polished looks in challenging lighting conditions.

Mounting the Filter

  1. Check Your Lens Thread Size
    • Before mounting, confirm your lens’s thread size (often indicated on the front or inside of the lens cap). Common sizes include 67mm, 77mm, 82mm, etc. Make sure your filter matches this size.
  2. Screw the Filter onto Your Lens
    • Align the filter’s threads with those on your lens. Gently twist the filter clockwise, being careful not to cross-thread. You’ll know it’s secure when it tightens smoothly without resistance.
  3. Using a Step-Up Ring (Optional)
    • If your filter size is larger than your lens thread size, a step-up ring can bridge the gap. This is a handy, cost-effective way to use one filter on multiple lenses.

Unmounting the Filter

  1. Gently Unscrew
    • Hold your lens securely and rotate the filter counterclockwise. Avoid applying excessive force so you don’t damage the threads.
  2. Store It Safely
    • Once removed, place the filter back in its protective case. If needed, give it a quick wipe with the microfiber cloth to remove any fingerprints or dust before storing.

Using the Circular Polarizer & Blooming Effect

  1. Adjust the Circular Polarizer
    • Both the Everyday and Mist filters include a rotating ring. Simply twist this front element until you achieve the right level of glare reduction or reflection removal. This is especially helpful when shooting near windows, water, or other reflective surfaces.
  2. Experiment with the Blooming Effect
    • The Everyday Filter offers a more subtle softening of highlights, making it ideal for daylight shoots or scenarios where you want just a hint of bloom.
    • The Mist Circular Polarizer Filter provides a stronger bloom, perfect for nighttime cityscapes, low-light interiors, or any scene where you want to reduce harshness and add an ethereal glow.
